Owner

Allan has always been a lover of food and wine, and has traveled extensively to explore those passions. When traveling, he makes sure to look for special local activities to experience people and their local habits, along with their wine and food preferences, after all, it is a known fact that you can confidently pair wines with the food found in the regions these wines are produced and their grapes are grown. His experiences highlighted how wine retail in America can be confusing and overwhelming—instead of being based on how people naturally think about the experiences of buying and enjoying wine with foods. In fact, that was an observation from which the concept of Pour was born, in Dec 3rd, 2006, when H. Tres Meyer originally founded the store.

After over 15 years of ever-growing success, the store is now taken over by Allan who has adopted Pour’s concept as his own and kept the well-known team of knowledgeable wine connoisseurs that dedicate their full attention to our customers in their wine and food pairing selections.

Allan brings 14+ years experience in general management, social media marketing, marketing writing and wording, coupled with his financial, accounting, and entrepreneurial background. His history of being an immigrant from South America in touch with several cultures of the world brings a fresh perspective to the wine selection process. His tenacity and eagerness to keep Pour’s concept alive is guarantee of another era of success for the store.

Allan has lived in Manhattan for over 12 years and loves all cultural aspects of the city. Pour is the translation of his enjoyment of New York City, love of travel, and successful business career. Allan also has personal experience in wine trips and research in Bordeaux, the region of Côtes du Rhône and Beaujolais in France, Vale do Douro in Portugal and Napa Valley and is currently engaged in continuing wine education and taking French classes.

Allan holds a WSET Level 3 Certification with Merit and continues to travel to vineyards to extend his field research and knowledge.

Charlie

Wine Steward

Charlie is a Native of the Upper West Side, but has spent most of his life in Northern New Jersey and out west in Oregon. While attending the University of Oregon, he spent a semester studying abroad in Siena, Italy. It was there that he took classes on Italian arts and culture, which, of course, included a course on Italian wine and, as they say, the rest was history. Since then he has worked harvests and bottling for wineries in northern California and eventually moved back to New York in the Fall of 2019 at which time he joined the team here at Pour as a sales associate. Since then he has completed his level 2 certification through the WSET and is currently working on completing level 3. He has a strong fondness for the rieslings of the world and when he’s not at Pour he can be found out on a trail or hosting friends for a cookout in his backyard. He’s often on the floor, so stop by and say ‘hello’ anytime!
